We Are Floury
I’m here to tell you the story of my family, I mean, the story of the restaurant Jaber.
Almost seventy years ago, my grandfather ( Abdallah Jaber ) and his brothers ( Jamil and Jabour Jaber) moved from Lebanon to Brazil seeking for a a safer place with more opportunities. They were moving to a country that they didn’t know anything about: the language, culture, people .. with little to no money. The way out was to make Lebanese food and sell it door by door. By doing this, they were able to save money to open in 1952 their first tiny restaurant in Sāo Paulo, Brazil. Which is still open!
Due to their hard work, Jaber is one of the most prestigious Arabic restaurants in the state of Sāo Paulo. Nowadays It has eight open units in the city: Paraíso, Brooklin, Itaim Bibi, Moema, Pinheiros, Vila Mariana, and Vila Nova Conceiçāo. Over the years Jaber has received many awards. Such as, the best Esfihas and the best Lebanese food in town.
Now, you can ask me “How did Jaber end up in the USA?”
My father ( Jamil Jaber) seeking for a safer place with more opportunities to live has decided to move from Brazil to the USA. He decided to move to a country that he didn’t know anything about: the language, culture, people.. However, he was a little prepared to open a restaurant right away ( Thanks to my grandfather). This journey began in 2012 with the opening of the first Jaber restaurant in Orlando, Florida. The traditional Arabic Esfihas were introduced to Americans through the Jaber restaurant located on International Drive. The first establishment has gained over the years the trust of customers, with our ( I think I can include myself here lol) personalized service and the high quality of our cuisine. The kitchen is monitored day by day by my grandmother (the family matriarch) Cristalina Jaber and my father , who together cherish and maintain the tradition of high quality Arab food. Of course, my father also counts on me and my siblings to deliver the best service that we can.
Now, the second question is “ Why did you chose College Park for a second location?”
I answer that to you with another question. Have you never seen in the past years the Jaber van around the neighborhood?
YES, we live in College Park since we moved from Brazil! It was exciting to find a place to open our restaurant in the neighborhood that welcomed us in many ways! Our mission is to offer all products and services with the highest quality and originality, creating good experiences, meeting and exceeding the expectations of our customers.
